Valli Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2019 750ml

Valli is the personal vocation of pioneering Otago winemaker, Grant Taylor. Grant’s name is synonymous with Otago Pinot Noir. He has been crafting wines in the region since 1993 when there were only 20 hectares planted - today there are over 1700. Grant’s accomplishments are well known in the wine world and he is credited with winning the Best Pinot Noir Trophy at a major International Wine Competition in London an unprecedented four times – a feat achieved by no other winemaker in the world. During the past 19 years he has made the first wines for a number of iconic Otago wineries, but now the serious focus is on his own creation, Valli. Established in 1998 and named after his Great-Great Grandfather, Giuseppe Valli, who immigrated to New Zealand from and Italian winemaking background, Grant founded Valli with the aim of creating true representations of Otago’s subregions with unflinching intensity and purity.

What The Critics Say
95/100 Cameron Douglas MS
"Immediately engaging bouquet with aromas of fresh and preserved berry fruits, wild thyme then oak. As the wine opens up the aromas and flavours develop releasing layers of minerality and wood spices, fruit and pinosity. The structure shows off a dry, layered, spicy, fruity and youthful wine loaded with texture, flavour and pinosity. A really good wine, enjoyable, tasty, varietal, fresh and lengthy. Fine tannins with a chalky edge, nice acid line and lengthy finish with a developing complexity. Drinkable today, will benefit from time in your cellar." Drink 2021 - 2026+

94/100 Bob Campbell MW
"Fragrant, appealing aroma with quite a floral and violet emphasis, while the palate was more savoury with crushed herb and grape stems adding extra interest to cherry and berry flavours. An ethereal wine with a backbone of fine tannins - should age well 15 JAN 2020." Drink 2020 - 2025

4.5 Stars Michael Cooper
"The powerful 2018 vintage (4.5*) is a very savoury, firmly structured red, hand-harvested, matured for 11 months in French oak casks (30 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby, it is full-bodied, with strong, well-ripened cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, fresh acidity and a tight finish." Drink 2022+
