From Glendullan distillery, here we have a new entry into Gordon & MacPhail?s wood finished ?Connoisseurs Choice? series. Distilled in 2009, this whisky spent 9 years maturing in refill bourbon barrels before a finishing period of 3 years in ex-C?te-R?tie red wine casks. The nose is full of dried strawberries and roasted peanuts. Notes of fresh violets develop with fragrant honey and a faint herbal edge. Velvety raspberry compote coats the palate, with subtle liquorice, red apple slices and sweet demerara sugar that?s balanced by soft white pepper. The finish is sweet with bursts of citrus and lingering red berries.
