Glenfiddich’s flagship 12-year-old single malt is enhanced with an Amontillado sherry cask finish, offering a richer and oakier expression without losing its signature bright fruit character. Initially aged for 12 years in American and European oak, it’s finished in rare Amontillado sherry casks—casks representing only ~1.8% of sherry production—adding subtle notes of dried fruits, spice, and a creamy depth
Master Blender Brian Kinsman describes it as retaining “a sweet fruitiness rich in fresh pear and crisp apple,” while offering a “deeper, sweeter and more oaky” flavor profile with delicate dried fruits and baked apple. Bottled at 40–43% ABV, this special-edition release bridges the gap between light and sherried single malts .
Tasting Notes
Color: Light amber-honey with gentle orange hues.
Nose: Fresh and fruity: ripe pear and crisp green apple lead, followed by delicate dried fruits (strawberry jam, orange marmalade), honey and a touch of baking spice—cinnamon and vanilla, with a soft nutty oak backbone.
Palate: Balanced and smooth: layers of malted cereal, caramel, honey, and vanilla interplay with sweet orchard fruits (apple, pear), candied berries, and subtle dark chocolate. A gentle nuttiness—hazelnut or almond—emerges, with light regal spice—cinnamon, nutmeg—and creamy vanilla notes.
Finish: Medium-long, smooth and mellow, with lingering oak spice, soft pepper, dried fruits, and a touch of nutty dryness.
