Zubrowka, also known in English as Bison Grass Vodka, is a dry, herb-flavored vodka that is distilled from rye and bottled at 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof). Its flavor is unique and is described as having woodruff, vanilla, coconut, and almond notes. The rye distillate is flavoured with a tincture of bison grass (Hierochloe odorata), which also gives the spirit its yellowish color. This grass grows in the Bialowieza Forest and elsewhere. A blade of bison grass is traditionally placed in each bottle of Zubr?wka, though this is largely decorative.

Notes of Coconut

Zubrowka Bison-Grass Vodka was an accidental revelation. At a bar one night I was faced with a choice between Zubrowka or Smirnoff; needless to say, I chose Zubrowka. This smooth vodka has an irresistible coconut finish that has convinced most of my vodka-shy friends to have a willing glass with me. There's no bitterness or edge here, just smooth sweet coconut - so natural it's unlike any of the artificially flavoured vodkas on the market. I love Zubrowka and it's my first recommendation to the sceptics who are still unsure about the idea of vodka on the rocks.
