Port Charlotte 10 year old is conceived, distilled matured and bottled only on Islay. Made from 100% Scottish barley, it is trickle distilled through tall, narrow-necked stills for a balanced, heathery style of barbeque smoke.

NOSE: The smoke is calmed by the marine, ozone character. While the smoke is always discernible on the nose it is dry and earthy in its style, allowing the oak to come forward with waves of golden caramel, fudge, vanilla custard, hints of ginger, nutmeg and clove. There is citrus fruit, coaxed from the glass with a drop of water, gentle lemon meringue and clementine. Breathe deeply and the floral aromas of wild thyme, heather and sea pink transport you to the Atlantic coast.

PALATE: On the palate there is a noticeable delicacy and softness in texture and style. Again, the balance of flavour is superb as the smoke wraps loosely around the sweetness drawn from deep within the oak. Coconut, vanilla custard and lemon honey combines with smoked oysters and sun baked salty sand.

FINISH: The finish is sublime. Smoky, sure, but with the soft sweetness of fudge and malted barley. Orange, mango and Banoffee pie signal the depth and quality of the oak. The many layers interchange on each sip. As the smoke comes and goes so too do the notes of ripe apple and apricot, beautifully intertwined with malt and oak sweetness and that typical Port Charlotte style dry smoke.

WOW

Finally found the perfect companion to my wonderful Ardbeg 10. An intense, luscious smack in the mouth yet has a delicate, beautifully layered finish and stays with you. This plus the Ardbeg 10 is all you need for a happy life. Whisky Heaven.

PEAT!!

If you are a peat fan you won't be disappointed with this one. Had the 1L bottle last night with a few friends with a good Cuban cigar and it was fantastic.
Obviously, the smoke is very different from Ardbeg. Between Ardbeg and this, I would say Ardbeg has a more complex flavour profile.
But I loved it to the last drop and will be buying this again.

Nose - peat smoke duh.., sweet, floral woody and earthy notes
Palate - Strong smoke, citrus, salt, vanilla, sweet and fruity notes
Finish - Long sweet and complex with a hint of smoke left in your mouth

Love this whisky

This is my first Bruichladdich and rates highly with whisky connoisseurs. Each sip takes you on a journey. The flavours just unfold from the first sip, through the mid palate and all the way to the finish. Pour a dram, curl up on the sofa, sip slowly and savour each mouthful.

10 yr port charlotte

After a small sample at a tasting,i bought my own bottle to try. Unfortunately i took it to our[pnfmwc] next club night which was overdue to be held and members turned up with 12 bottles to try.The official bottles were Robbie Burns, and a lot of the others were so much better.Long story short ,the 10 yr BPC wastoo popular, and now i have to buy another. It won't knock the 10 yr Talisker off, but is still a mighty fine dram!
