"A rich and elegant Islay single malt, Bowmore 16 Year Old Ruby Port Cask Finish brings together the distillery’s signature gentle peat smoke with the deep fruit sweetness of Ruby Port casks. The whisky is initially matured in American oak ex-Bourbon and European oak Sherry casks before being finished in Ruby Port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley, creating a layered and indulgent expression.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich blackcurrant and dark berries with walnut, ginger, leather and subtle sherry notes, followed by gentle peat smoke and the warmth of glowing embers.
Palate: Sweet and full-bodied, with chocolate fudge, demerara sugar and ripe dark fruit balanced by salted walnuts, oak and delicate spice. A soft coastal smokiness gradually develops underneath.
Finish: Long and gently smoky, with lingering dark sweetness, oak, spice and a subtle maritime character."
