Erdinger Weissbier is a classic example of a Bavarian wheat beer done right—approachable, consistent, and quietly distinctive.
Pouring it into a glass, you get that signature cloudy golden color with a thick, creamy white head that holds well. It looks exactly how a proper Hefeweizen should.
On the nose, it leans into soft banana and clove aromas, backed by a light bready sweetness. There’s nothing aggressive here—it’s smooth and inviting.
The palate follows through with a balanced mix of fruity esters (banana, a touch of citrus) and gentle spice. The wheat gives it a creamy, slightly fuller mouthfeel than your typical lager, but it stays refreshing thanks to lively carbonation. There’s a subtle sweetness, but it never becomes heavy or cloying.
The finish is clean, slightly dry, with a lingering hint of spice and yeast character.
What sets Erdinger apart is its consistency and drinkability. It doesn’t try to be overly complex or bold—it just executes the style really well. That makes it a reliable choice whether you’re new to wheat beers or just want something easy to enjoy.
If there’s any criticism, it’s that it plays things a bit safe compared to smaller craft Hefeweizens, which sometimes push more intense banana or spice notes.
Verdict: A smooth, refreshing, and well-balanced wheat beer that’s easy to enjoy. Not groundbreaking, but a dependable staple of the style.

Merry Christmas

Seasons greetings 😉
Having decided to treat meself to some festive fare I decided to peruse the beers available from the good folks at Whisky and More.
To my surprise, my favourite tipple when I’m in Liverpool for a football match was available at an extremely good price!
I promptly ordered said beers, they arrived in 3 days, and I’ll probably do it again sooner rather than later….. highly recommended
