Clynelish is a delicious and distinctive Single Malt Scotch Whisky from one of Scotland's most northern distilleries, which is situated at Brora on the stormy north east coast. Aged for 14 years in specially selected oak casks then bottled at full 46% abv, this is a light yet firm-bodied maritime single malt. Fresh and creamy-smooth on the palate, it has a smoky, sea-spicy character and a very pleasing texture which is highly regarded by malt whisky connoisseurs. The nose starts with light candle wax, some sugar and a faint floral fragrance. Adding a little water brings this into focus; the candle wax is now more richly scented as if, when strolling near the beach, you have come across sun-dried flowers among the sand dunes. On the spicy palate there's a signature oily, mustard-cress crispness, which is underscored by some maritime saltiness in the satisfying, drying finish.

Not quite worthy of 4 stars.

The initial hit on the palate is peppery. This lingers for a while until it finally gives way to a hint of sweetness with just a touch of umami. A dribble of water addresses the pepperiness and allows the taste buds to focus more squarely on the shy sweetness lingering in the background. It’s close to 4 stars but lacks a little finesse to take it across the line.

Incredble taste and incredible value

If this whisky cost twice as much as it does, then I would say it's just a great whisky. But for the price it is at, it goes from being a great whisky to being truly exceptional. Not only does it taste amazing, but it also doesn't cost nearly as much as most whiskies that taste this good do

Lovely drop

My son introduced me to these guys a while ago after visiting the distillery. Over the years it's never disappointed, good full blooded spirit with a touch of fire, that almost drinks like an Armagnac but has lovely signature malty sweetness, nutty oak and a distinctly maritime character. A nice alternative to the west coasters with a little less peat and more emphasis on malt but shares similarities with its iodine laced aroma. Not quite up there with Springbank or Lagavulin but if you like Islay or Campbelltown malts this a friendly companion to have in your collection.

Exceptional taste & value

A core of Diageo's "Flora & Fauna" series of single malt Scotch whiskies. This has wonderful waxes/ honeycomb notes with cinnamon and spiciness and the longest finish. My wife doesn't like whiskies, but she loves this one and told me to buy more!!! This is well respected and excellent value 14 y/o highland whisky. This is 9.5/10 stuff!
