"The softer side of Speyside is on show in this deeply coloured Tamnavulin. Finished in three different types of sherry casks, the nose offers a delicate and gently sweet sherry infusion leaving the malt intact, American oak adding an undercurrent of vanillas. At first dryish and Oloroso-like, by mid palate this develops impressive weight and mouthfeel with a brief burst of fruit cake and a thrust of warming spices. The finish lingers with more dried fruits (think PX), bitter peel and a late succulence. The wine input is sensitively handled, and at just 40%, the depth of flavour unexpected. Prepare to be surprised."
