Antiquary Red 700ml

From the first nosing, it’s immediately clear this is no ordinary blend. The aroma is smooth, gentle, and inviting, heaps of vanilla and malted barley up front, followed by soft toffee sweetness and a subtle citrus lift that hints at marmalade. Nothing sharp, nothing aggressive, just clean, calm, composed, and beautifully balanced.
On the palate, it’s remarkably refined. Soft and subtle in texture, yet full of flavour. Toffee and caramel notes roll in smoothly, supported by gentle malt and the faintest kick of smoke in the background. It’s not peaty; just enough smokiness to add depth and structure without ever dominating. The balance here is exceptional.
The finish is medium in length, warm and satisfying, with lingering caramel sweetness and a touch of dryness that keeps it clean and moreish rather than turning acrid (I guess)

Lacks the finesse of the 12 yr old, but excellent value for money

As the review title says. A pleasant and good value blended whisky. Something a bit different in the moderately priced blended category.
