Lagavulin is renowned for its distinctive, complex and intensely smoky whiskies and that coastal peat with its hints of iodine and brine - a classic to say the least.
The marriage of these two styles brings a new take on an old staple. the initial red-wine barrel aging is reminiscent of the flagship style coming out of Starward - brightness & smoothness, rich chocolate and lively fruit flavours as well as sweet and supple caramel and toffee notes - with the cherry on top being the 18 months of ex-Lagavulin cask to finish, wrapping the whole package up in a beautifully smoky, peated under-tone.
