Commercial Description:
This single malt is exotic and vibrant on both nose and the palate and it delivers raisins, vanilla, cherry liqueur and spices. The effect is an extraordinary smoothness on the palate, even at full cask strength. Matured first in new American oak and ex-bourbon, then transferred to first-fill Portuguese Port pipes, Amrut Portonova is finished in ex-bourbon casks.
Nose: A thick pudding of a nose, fruit and caramel have merged into delightful dram, elements of caramelised apple pie.
Taste: This is essentially a port pipe sandwich and it shows. The spiced fruit is
interwoven with caramel while the oaky saltiness gets the taste buds enraptured.
Finish: Long, massive oak with evidence of the virgin barrels now detectable.
With exploration, a cocoa hue appears finally, some muscovado sugars arrive to supplant the berry fruits.
