Parkers Heritage 9th Edition Malt Whiskey 8YO 54% 750ml
"The 9th Edition of the Parker’s Heritage Collection sees a second release in a row that isn't a bourbon after 2014's wheat whiskey. For 2015, we're treated to a Kentucky straight malt whiskey (65% malted barley and 35% corn matured in new oak barrels). The barrels were placed on the fifth and seventh floors of Rickhouse Y back in 2006 by Parker’s son, Craig Beam.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Very big, you have to approach this one carefully at full strength. Lots of pencil shavings from years in virgin oak, but there's enough nuttiness and hints of honey and lemon to intrigue.
Palate: Some welcome fudge helps a powerful entry with more fresh oak, malty beer, dried grass (moving into smokiness) with hints of caramelised Muscovado.
Finish: Almost hoppy oak with a little treacle.
Overall: An oak-driven beast of a Kentucky whisky."
