SMALL BATCH CASK STRENGTH
While continuing to give an unadulterated glimpse into peated BenRiach spirit in its most natural state, Cask Strength Batch 2 Peated is also our rarest ever cask strength expression, with just 26 casks being married to create the batch.

UNIQUE TO SPEYSIDE
Back in the 1970s, BenRiach made the bold move of distilling a proportion of its whisky using peated malted barley; marking a return to the original Speyside character and flavour of malts made during the nineteenth century. Aside from BenRiach Cask Strength Batch 1 Peated, this is the only cask strength whisky from the speyside region to contain 100% peated spirit. The expression will appeal to fans of richly peated malt or malt drinkers looking for something different from Speyside, a region usually known for unpeated whiskies.

DOUBLE CASK MATURATION
This multifaceted expression has been expertly created by our Master Blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie. Rachel has worked to build layers of flavour into this expression through the marriage of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.

AWARD WINNING
This year the expression has won gold at two of the industry’s most prestigious awards competitions World Whisky Awards and San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

PEAT LEVEL & CHARACTER
The malted barley used to make BenRiach Peated Cask Strength has been smoked with inland Highland peat to a level of 45 ppm, enriching the whisky with notes of smoked apple wood. This type of peat has a noticeable difference to Islay peat, which naturally has a more coastal character due to the location it is sourced.

APPEARANCE
Deep winter gold.

AROMA
Juniper berries and stone fruit, wood smoke and milk thistle.

TASTE
Bellowing peat embers carry butterscotch and Brazil nut toffee interwoven with pine resin.

FINISH
Long and intriguing with smoked apple wood and star anise on a smouldering forest fire.

Alc 60.3%
